Danong Chen

Danong Chen was named President and CEO of Tanox by the company’s Board of Directors in December 2005 and assumed those positions on February 1, 2006. Dr. Chen brings two decades of biotechnology experience to her leadership role at Tanox. Prior to being named President and CEO, she was Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development at Tanox and was responsible for guiding company strategy, evaluating new product opportunities and potential merger and acquisition transactions, and overseeing corporate projects. As a trained molecular neuroscientist with a deep understanding of molecular and cellular interactions as they relate to drug targets and monoclonal antibody drug development, Dr. Chen brings a deep scientific background to her role as CEO. Dr. Chen joined Tanox as Associate Director of Strategy in 2002 and was promoted to Director of Corporate Development less than a year later. She held that title before being promoted a second time in 2004 to Vice President of Corporate Development and Project Management. Her responsibilities were expanded in 2005 to include responsibility for leading company strategy. Prior to joining Tanox, Dr. Chen served as a manager in the health-care practice of Arthur D. Little, Inc., a strategic consulting company, from 1999 to March 2002, where she managed and participated in projects ranging from benchmarking pharmaceutical research and development, evaluating contract manufacturing organizations to multinational product launch strategy. Dr. Chen received her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Baylor College of Medicine.
